ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Thursday, June 2nd 2011; 7:30pm

Location: Huron Park CommunityCentre


We had a great turnout from concerned parents and caregivers. Our presenter, Gary Whetung representing the new "Developmental Services Ontario" (DSO) explained some of the "Nuts and Bolts" of that organization and how the new "Supports Intensity Scale" (SIS) assessment system will work.

The changes will take effect on July 1st 2011.

Bill 77 news

Bill 77 (Services for Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act). This new bill from the Ontario government is quite comprehensive but lacks explicit recognition of a baseline of ‘citizenship’ of all persons. Also there are no budgetary figures and we object to the fact that "waiting lists" are are considered normal. (more)
